I started this blog in 2020, while preparing for the EQE main exams. After passing all exams for the first time with flying colours, I started supporting other candidates on their EQE journey.
Since then, I tutored more than 150 candidates regularly (on a weekly basis), including people from prestigious companies such as the EPO, Finnegan, Keltie LLP, Grünecker, Maiwald, Hoffmann Eitle, Barker Brettell, Brann AB, Laine IP, Bergenstråhle & Partners, Nestle, Kuhnen & Wacker, Betten & Resch, P&TS, Appleyard Lees, Onsagers, Abel+Imray, Simmons & Simmons, Clarke Modet, Pirelli, Adidas, Novo Nordisk, Knauf, tesa SE, Japan Tobacco International and Roche and held about 300 meetings as an EQE tutor.

Calendar for EQE 2025
In EQE 2025, no calendars will be provided with the examination papers. The basis for calculating time limits are the days on which the EPO filing offices are closed as published in the Official Journal.
I prepared the EQE calendars for you using the new OJ EPO 2024, A91.
My printable materials
I have prepared a lot of tables, lists for myself for the EQE and I shared all of them here, on my blog with you, in different blog articles. To find them easier, I am sharing them again, in one place.
Feel free to print them all. If you found them useful, please consider donating (optional, of course:)).
If you have any feedback, I would be happy to hear them!
EPC vs. PCT
In this post I listed the most important differences between EPC and PCT that can be relevant for the EQE and EPAC.
Advice for first-time sitters
This post has been created for first-time EQE candidates. I have asked EQE-qualified attorneys:
- Is there something you wish someone had told you when you started preparing for the main exams?
- What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone sitting the EQE for the first time?
Then I have compiled all the tips into this one comprehensive blog post. I hope you find at least a few of them helpful! Good luck with your EQE preparation!
A possible 6-month study plan for EQE 2025
There are about 6 months until EQE 2025. For candidates who enrolled for at least some of the main exams, the next 6 months will be mostly about studying.
I have tried to create a realistic study plan supporting candidates who plan to sit all 4 main exams in 2025. However, please remember that I don't know your life situation, so feel free to personalise and adjust the plan according to your commitments and available free time.
New online Paper A and B courses
I have created 8 new videos during the summer! You can purchase these in 6 different packages by visiting the EQE webshop.
Good luck with Paper A and Paper B!
2nd Munich Meetup
The second Fillun community event is coming! 🤩
After the first very enjoyable meetup in April, I am organising another meetup in Munich to strengthen our IP community and to help you build professional relationships, make new friends, form EQE study groups or find new positions.
EQE appeal
In this long awaited post you can learn how to file an appeal against the results of the EQE.
This post was written by a lovely patent attorney who went through this fight after EQE 2023 (successfully). She wanted to support and help others by writing this detailed summary about the EQE appeal process. I’m grateful for her contribution to the EQE blog!
Free Q&A about main exam preparation
Have you passed the Pre-exam? Huge congratulations!
Are you confused and overwhelmed about how to start preparing for the main exams, and which exams to register for?
I’m providing a free Q&A on 26th June (DATE HAS CHANGED!) to give you some guidance about the main exam preparation. Open this post to register for the meeting.
My 2024 Paper D1 answer
Shortly after Paper D 2024 I also answered the D1 questions out of curiousity, but I was not sure whether I should publish them. However, since a few candidates asked, here we go. I do have some disclaimers though!
Provisional list of study groups for EQE 2025
The list and schedule of my study groups for EQE 2025 will be shared in May 2024.
Since many of you have already reached out and asked about my plans, I thought I would share a provisional list of the study groups I am planning to start in autumn.
You got your Pre-exam result. What next?
Have you passed the Pre-exam in 2024?
Depending on the result, there are many different options available. I created a visual overview to help you understand the different routes.
My third tutoring season (EQE 2024)
An honest and transparent reflection about the last 6 months.
Munich Meetup
The first Fillun community event is coming! 🤩
I am organising a meetup in Munich to strengthen our IP community and to help you build professional relationships, make new friends, form EQE study groups or find new positions.
Please let me know if you are interested as that would really help me organise this in-person meeting.
Asking for feedback
In the last 6 months, I did my best to help EQE candidates prepare for the EQEs. Now I would like to ask for your help. If you followed me and my EQE blog while preparing for the EQEs, I would like to ask for your feedback. Thank you in advance for your help!
Final preparations
Wow, only a few days left until the EQE. I prepared a final checklist for you. Good luck!!!
Mock Paper D1
I have organised an online Mock Paper D1 exam for Paper D candidates. The schedule was the exact same as the real schedule, so we started at 9:30 (CET), with one break between 11:05-11:35.
I have mostly updated and modified old D1 questions to create these questions. Ignacio Lobato also double checked and answered them (independently) to make sure they are clear enough.
Today’s date, the distribution of the questions and marks was also the same as that of Paper D: part 1 of the Mock D1 exam included 2 questions for 26 marks altogether, and part 2 included 3 questions for 29 marks in total.
Priority related legal basis
New printable material for Paper D1!
I have created a table with the priority related topics, providing legal basis from EPC, PCT and PC. I made sure that it is one page only to make it easily printable and usable during the exam.
Pete Pollard was very kind; he double checked and improved this table.
New R.126(2) EPC and the 7-day rule
Most people are happy that we don't have to use the 10-day rule anymore. However, do you know how the new R.126(2) EPC works? Is the 7-day rule easier to deal with?
You might have heard that the new R.126(2) is similar to the time limit calculation in PCT. But this information only helps if you know how time limit calculation works in PCT. :)
So, here is your refresher about the 7-day rule.
What to do in the last month before the EQE?
