My two cents on email etiquette

Do you ever care about being kind in your emails, or just focus on getting the job done? Maybe I am naive (I have been told several times), but I do think that the way we communicate in emails matters.

By following some simple rules, we can make others' work a bit simpler or just their day nicer.
1. Respond to an email within 1-2 days;
2. if you need more than 2 days to respond to an email, at least confirm the receipt of the email and inform the sender that a more detailed response will follow soon;
3. inform your partner if an urgent, last-minute filing may come up so that they have the chance to clear up some time in their schedule;
4. respect the other, e.g. don't write "Dear Sirs" when you receive emails from one specific person, especially if she is a woman;
5. give clear deadlines and instructions.
+1: I like finishing my emails with "have a nice day" or something similar, because I love the people I am working with and I do mean it.

None of the above will take you more than 30 seconds, but can make a huge difference for the other person.
