Downside of productivity

I had to realise that all those books, videos and articles about productivity have a real downside. This productivity trend made me want to be productive on weekends and holidays as well. Even on days off, I was constantly trying to figure out how I can accomplish as many things as possible. After a less productive day, I often felt like I could've accomplished more and then, I simply acknowledged that it was a bad day. I promised myself that next day, I would be doing better.

This is crazy.

Unless you are a CEO with 4 kids, maybe you don't always have to be as productive as possible. Maybe you can drink your coffee without listening to a podcast at the same time. Maybe you can run listening to your favorite music instead of listening to a self-help audio book. Maybe you can sleep without setting an alarm on the weekends. Maybe you can just sit and do nothing for 10 minutes and let your mind wander. Especially in the summer.

Unless, of course, you are having fun. Then please don't mind me.

I want to learn how to be less productive sometimes, when I am not working, and how not to feel bad about it.

(Disclaimer: This post is absolutely not against anyone sharing work-related productivity tips.)
